“I am not attracted to straight angles or to the straight line, hard and inflexible, created by man. I am attracted to free-flowing, sensual curves. The curves that I find in the mountains of my country, in the sinuousness of its rivers, in the waves of the ocean, and on the body of the beloved woman. Curves make up the entire Universe, the curved Universe of Einstein”
Oscar Niemeyer was a space modeler. His work, a follower of the ideas of Le Corbusier, believed in the idea that architecture should provide “machines for living” committed to the people who actually inhabit places.
It is no coincidence that one of the boardrooms of our newly opened offices in Mexico City is dedicated to this eternal architect. It is a tribute to an artist that somehow inspired us to design our workspaces and collaboration. The table arrangements, halls, public and private spaces playing with curves seeking proximity of people in a digital world where it is increasingly difficult to look in the eyes of others.
Currently the idea of “new forms of work” gradually gains strength involving “new life”: we speak about the evolution towards a XXI century professional style committed to its future, a leadership model based on the influence and ability to inspire others, personal growth based on merit and in what can be done-not just what you know how to do.
In this sense, the new Overlap offices in Mexico City send many messages to our visitors. There are No doors in the offices because we believe a manager must always be available for his team. Walls are transparent because we are convinced that knowledge and information must flow so that the collective intelligence flourishes day after day. You can write on the walls while sharing a coffee because in a relaxed environment fun ideas are born and harvested.
For Niemeyer reinforced concrete was plastic and ductile to Overlap people are what give sustainable meaning to organizations, and not the other way around. The space is suits itself for those using it every day, and every day it transforms. We would like to invite you to visit our offices and have a coffee with us. Our doors are always open.
